Be Good to Your Skin

Our skin is the first thing that others see and judge us on. Are you beautiful and healthy? Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Its health is a general indicator of your overall health. Whether people realize it or not, they make unconscious decisions about you as a person, based on the quality and youthful appearance of your skin. To be perceived as beautiful, you should take good care of your skin.

That all starts with good nutrition. A good diet is important go get all the nutrients to the cells of your skin in the amounts necessary for it to be healthy. Your diet should have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to get vitamins, such as vitamin E, C, and A.  You also need protein to repair damage and to create new skin cells as old ones constantly die off.  The fats that you eat are also important, as they are needed to process certain important vitamins needed by your skin. Eat healthy fats, like those found in olive oil and avocados.

When it is hot and dry or windy, your skin will lose more moisture than normal. Keep your skin soft with commercial lotions or you can even use olive oil or coconut oil to help your skin retain moisture and resist wrinkles.

The single most important thing you can do to protect yourself from skin cancer and premature aging is to limit exposure to the sun. You can do this in several ways. You can simply stay indoors. Limiting hours in the sun will limit the amount of UV rays that you receive.  This makes it hard to get exercise, be social or get the beneficial effects of sun exposure, such as the production of vitamin D3. If you are lacking you can take a D3 supplement that you can buy in any drugstore.

Sunscreen should be worn whenever you are in the sun. If you wear foundation makeup, be sure that you pick a brand that contains sunscreen. This also makes it easy to remember to put sunscreen on every single day.

You can also block the sun with clothing, such as hats. This will shield your face from the sun, which is the most vulnerable and easily damaged. Get swimsuit coverups from Aerie to limit sun exposure on days you are out in a swimsuit.

Take care of your skin when you are young and it will remain soft, supple and youthful looking for many years to come.

Yogurt goodness!

Yogurt has been popular in the food market because it carries plenty of benefits. And just what can we get from yogurt? Is it Health-wise, food-wise or skin-wise?

Yogurt is dairy product; it contains milk which has protein, calcium, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin B6 and B12. Plus it contains “probiotics”; these are the good bacteria present in our digestive system. These bacteria keep the colon healthy, it helps fight disease and strengthen our immune system. Add yogurt to your diet. You can make a smoothie out of it by combining your favorite fruit like berries or have some yogurt ice cream for dessert.

Yogurt can also be good for your skin. Recently it has become an ingredient for skin care, why? Because it can be used as a moisturizer, it has an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal property to fight against pimples, and it can also be used as an anti-aging cream.
